Mercedes-Benz Doctoral candidate for Artificial Intelligence Production 2025

As part of our team, you will research, evaluate, and pilot the latest AI technologies. Your work will help make our production processes more efficient, flexible, and sustainable.

Your tasks:

  • Examine AI technologies: You will create a comprehensive overview of existing AI technologies and analyze their areas of application
  • Identify AI potential: You will select relevant AI technologies for automotive production and examine their potential and challenges
  • Cluster and evaluate AI technologies: You will develop an innovative clustering approach to group the technologies and evaluate them based on specific criteria
  • Conduct pilot projects: You will plan and implement pilot projects to analyze the feasibility and economic viability of the models
  • Develop your own research questions, you will deal with questions such as:
    • What specific criteria should be considered when evaluating AI technologies?
    • Are there specific methods or frameworks that should be used for clustering the technologies?
    • What kind of pilot projects are conceivable? Are there any ideas or examples already available?
    • What are the expected results of the dissertation?
    • How can economic aspects of AI application in automotive production be taken into account?

The promotion can begin from October 2025.

Requirements

  • A prerequisite for employment is that the doctoral project must be supervised by a university lecturer. The selection of a suitable supervisor is the responsibility of the doctoral candidate.
  • Completed university degree (Master/Diploma) in computer science, engineering, mathematics or a related field
  • Profound knowledge of artificial intelligence and machine learning
  • Fluent written and spoken German and English skills
  • Interest in the automotive industry and production processes
  • Analytical thinking skills and a structured way of working
  • High level of initiative and ability to work in a team
