As part of our team, you will research, evaluate, and pilot the latest AI technologies. Your work will help make our production processes more efficient, flexible, and sustainable.
Your tasks:
- Examine AI technologies: You will create a comprehensive overview of existing AI technologies and analyze their areas of application
- Identify AI potential: You will select relevant AI technologies for automotive production and examine their potential and challenges
- Cluster and evaluate AI technologies: You will develop an innovative clustering approach to group the technologies and evaluate them based on specific criteria
- Conduct pilot projects: You will plan and implement pilot projects to analyze the feasibility and economic viability of the models
- Develop your own research questions, you will deal with questions such as:
- What specific criteria should be considered when evaluating AI technologies?
- Are there specific methods or frameworks that should be used for clustering the technologies?
- What kind of pilot projects are conceivable? Are there any ideas or examples already available?
- What are the expected results of the dissertation?
- How can economic aspects of AI application in automotive production be taken into account?
The promotion can begin from October 2025.

Requirements
- A prerequisite for employment is that the doctoral project must be supervised by a university lecturer. The selection of a suitable supervisor is the responsibility of the doctoral candidate.
- Completed university degree (Master/Diploma) in computer science, engineering, mathematics or a related field
- Profound knowledge of artificial intelligence and machine learning
- Fluent written and spoken German and English skills
- Interest in the automotive industry and production processes
- Analytical thinking skills and a structured way of working
- High level of initiative and ability to work in a team
