  • A prize of 1,000 €
  • A certificate of the award issued by DAAD and the University of Göttingen
  • Recognition of achievements through a laudation and award presentation by the Vice President for Equal Opportunities, Diversity, and International Affairs, Prof. Dr. Inge Hanewinkel, in a festive setting.

Requirements

The DAAD Award aims to recognize and promote outstanding academic performance and exceptional social engagement by international students at our university. The award is given to students who:

  • have demonstrated remarkable societal or intercultural engagement, preferably in Göttingen and at our university.
  • have excelled in their studies.
  • have shown a strong commitment to the university and the community.
  • are enrolled in a regular degree program at the University of Göttingen (not as a guest or exchange student).
  • are in an advanced stage of their studies, at least in their 2nd or 3rd year of undergraduate studies, or at least in the 2nd semester of a master's program, and are still enrolled by the end of December 2026. The award may also be given to recent graduates and prospective doctoral candidates.

Holding a DAAD or other scholarship does not exclude a nomination. However, guest and exchange students, as well as graduates who have already left Germany, are not eligible.

Selection Process

  • The selection committee, chaired by the Vice President for Equal Opportunities, Diversity, and International Affairs, along with the International Student Office, reviews the applications and selects the award recipient. The winner will be announced through a press release from the university.
