Chemnitz University of Technology Deutschlandstipendium 2025

Chemnitz University of Technology is expected to award 33 Germany Scholarships for the winter semester 2025/26 (funding year 2025/2026) to students who demonstrate outstanding academic and professional achievements. The scholarships are each worth €300 per month and are initially awarded for one year. Half of the scholarships are funded by sponsors such as companies, foundations, associations, or private individuals, and half by federal funds.

Requirements

  • Students from all faculties and the Center for Teacher Education and Educational Research (ZLB) are eligible to apply for the scholarships.
  • In addition to previous academic achievements, the selection of scholarship recipients will also consider social commitment, willingness to assume responsibility, and special social, familial, or personal circumstances, such as family background or a migration background.
  • Funding is excluded if the student receives material support based on talent and performance in accordance with Section 1, Paragraph 3 or Section 4, Paragraph 1, Sentence 1 of the Scholarship Program Act, unless the amount falls below a monthly average of €30.
  • Scholarships of up to €300 are not credited towards BAföG benefits in accordance with Section 21, Paragraph 3, Sentence 1, No. 2 of the Federal Training Assistance Act.

Interview Dates and Process

The application and selection process consists of two selection rounds.

  • Applicants will be pre-selected in the first selection round by the award committees of the faculties and the Central Office for the Study of the German Federal Republic (ZLB) based on the following performance criteria:
    • For students in their first semester: average grade of the university entrance qualification.
    • For other students in the Bachelor's program: average grade of the university entrance qualification and interim grade in the program according to academic progress, credit points earned to date.
    • For other students in the Master's program: average grade of the university entrance qualification and final grade of the previous degree program.
    • For other students in the State Examination program: average grade of the university entrance qualification and previous academic achievements, credit points earned to date.
    • Explanation: Applicants can find out their interim grade and credit points in the self-service section under Examination Administration, Performance Overview "Modules/Interim Grade," examination number 9200, if the program is already available there; otherwise, they can find out from the Central Examination Office.
    • The award committees of the faculties or the Central Examination Office will make their decisions in the first selection round by July 25, 2025.
  • For the second selection round, the preselected applicants will be personally informed by the respective faculty or the ZLB by July 25, 2025, at the latest, and requested to submit some documents by email by August 8, 2025 (incoming mail).

Application Documents

For the second selection round, the preselected applicants will be personally informed by the respective faculty or the ZLB by July 25, 2025, at the latest, and requested to submit the following documents by email by August 8, 2025 (incoming mail):

  • Letter of motivation (including a description of current interests: detailed professional interests, information on desired internships, existing practical contacts, statements on professional career planning),
  • CV in tabular form,
  • Certificate of higher education entrance qualification,
  • Certificate of enrollment,
  • Grad certificate/Transcript of records,
  • Bachelor's degree certificate (only for applicants in the Master's program)
  • and other documents as required by the faculty or the ZLB
  • References,
    • Internship and employment references, as well as evidence of other knowledge, awards, and prizes,
    • Evidence of extracurricular or extracurricular activities such as volunteer work, community, social, university policy, or political involvement, and participation in religious communities, clubs, or associations,
    • credible presentation of special personal or family circumstances such as illnesses and disabilities, caring for one's own children, especially as a single parent, or caring for a close relative in need of care, family background, or a migration background.

The award committees of the faculties and the Central Library of the University of Applied Sciences will make their final decisions on the award recommendations by September 19, 2025.

Scholarship extension:

  • Scholarship holders whose existing funding expires at the end of the 2025 summer semester and who wish to receive continued funding must also apply in the first round via the online application portal. The following documents must be submitted to the scholarship program contact point at the same time:
    • Letter of motivation (a brief self-report on personal development during the funding period related to their studies, including a description of personal or family circumstances if applicable, and on the development of contact with the sponsor)
    • Certification of academic achievements achieved during the previous funding period, including credit points earned to date
    • Certification of enrollment

Scholarship approval:

  • The Rectorate will decide on the award of scholarships by October 10, 2025, based on the recommendations of the award committees of the faculties or the Central Library of the University of Applied Sciences.
  • The Rector will inform the scholarship recipients in writing about the award and request them to provide their bank details and tax identification number.
  • There is no legal entitlement to a scholarship.
