The Department of Medicine, Clinic for neurology, research group on “Movement Disorders and Neuromodulation”, Prof. Dr. David Pedrosa, is currently accepting applications for a Research Assistant (Doctoral Researcher/PhD).
The position is offered for a period of three years, if no former times of qualification must be considered. The starting date is as soon as possible. The position is part-time (65 % of regular working hours) with salary and benefits commensurate with a public service position in the state Hesse, Germany (TV-H E 13, 65 %).
Tasks:
- scientific services in research and teaching
- collaborate with our international partners in a European research consortium (TRACE-PD), funded by the EU Joint Programme Neurodegenerative Disease Research (JPND) and the BMBF and coordinated by our centre
- help with MRI data acquisition from patients with Parkinson‘s disease using a state-of-the-art MR-scanner
- evaluating MRI and PET data with focus on correlates of degeneration and mitigating processes in the early phase of Parkinson‘s disease
- writing scientific texts for publications of the consortium dealing with subcortical degeneration and cortical compensation
- regular methodological exchange with our partners in Germany (Cologne), Sweden (Stockholm), the Netherlands (Nijmegen) and the Czéch Republic (Brno)

Requirements
- MSc-degree or equivalent in neuroscience, biomedical science, psychology or related disciplines
- experience in analyzing neuroimaging data (PET or MRI)
- existing knowledge in programming languages (e.g. MATLAB, Python, R) is an advantage
- strong interest in research in neurodegenerative disorders, especially neuroimaging of disease-related processes in the early phase of Parkinson‘s disease
- good knowledge of written and spoken English is required
- high level of diligence, ability to work in a team, structured work and organisational skills
Disposition to own scientific qualification (a doctorate project dealing with neuroimaging markers in Parkinson’s disease) is expected.
