2026 University of Gottingen - Max Planck Institute PhD Student Scholarship

The University of Göttingen and the Max Planck Institute of Multidisciplinary Sciences offer several positions as PhD Students with 65% of a full position (25.87 hours per week). This position should be filled by June 1st 2026 with a fixed term contract for these qualification positions up to 4 years. Salary: Pay grade E13 TV-L.
 
IMPRS for Genome Science & Research Training Group GönomiX
The DFG Research Training Group GönomiX and the International Max Planck Research School (IMPRS) for Genome Science are jointly seeking highly motivated PhD candidates. These programs, a collaboration between the University of Göttingen, University Medical Center, and the Max Planck Institute for Multidisciplinary Science, offer interdisciplinary research opportunities at the forefront of genome science.
 
Research focus:

• IMPRS-GS: Projects span experimental (genomics, transcriptomics, proteomics, etc.) and theoretical (bioinformatics, computational biology, etc.) disciplines.
• GönomiX: Focuses on the evolution of gene regulatory networks and Wnt pathway functions in emerging model organisms (eg insects, annelids, snails, flatworms, cnidarians), utilizing 'omics technologies and bioinformatics. Students will either pioneer novel bioinformatics tools or they will push the current limits of our model systems by developing novel tools to study gene function. The initial group of 10 PhD students will join our structured training program and participate in regular scientific exchange eg in retreats, colloquia and in tailored workshops.

Requirements

• Candidates should hold an outstanding Master's (or equivalent) degree in experimental life sciences, computational/mathematical/biophysical sciences, or a related field.
• Individuals with a strong interest in interdisciplinary research, demonstrated academic excellence, creativity, motivation, teamwork skills, and proficiency in English.
