The Institute of Pathology and Molecular Diagnostics at Augsburg University Hospital plays a key role in modern cancer care. Using cutting-edge histopathological and molecular diagnostic techniques, we lay the foundation for precise, personalized treatment of oncological diseases. As an integral part of the Comprehensive Cancer Center Augsburg (CCCA) and the Center for Personalized Medicine (ZPM) at Augsburg University Hospital, we are active in both clinical care and translational research. Our scientific work is interdisciplinary and takes place in a state-of-the-art oncology laboratory where various research groups cooperate closely. This promotes innovative, results-oriented, and diverse scientific activity.
Our digital research platform at the dynamically growing Augsburg location opens up a wide range of collaboration opportunities – both locally and in national research networks. We are actively involved in the Bavarian Center for Cancer Research (BZKF), including through our leadership of the BZKF flagship project "Omics, Genomics, and Liquid Biopsy," as well as in the National Center for Tumor Diseases (NCT) and the CCC WERA, the alliance of the Cancer Centers Würzburg, Erlangen, Regensburg, and Augsburg, which has been recognized by the German Cancer Aid as a Center of Excellence in Oncology.
The central research project is dedicated to the development of innovative methods for the transcriptional induction of specific target structures and the subsequent application of novel, targeted tumor therapies.
