In the current programme generation, ERASMUS+ supports the use of environment friendly means of transport. Erasmus+ students travelling sustainably can apply for additional up to 6 days of travel (max. 3 days for outward journey and max. 3 days for return journey), if they use the following means of transport to get to their placement abroad (and back to their home country):
- train
- bus
- car-sharing

Since summer 2024, there has been a new Interrail Pass especially for the ERASMUS programme. The pass is valid for 6 months, so it can be used for travelling there and back. It can also be used for travelling in the host country.
