SBB Advancement Scholarship

The Advancement Scholarship supports committed professionals with vocational training and practical experience in their first academic university studies. The funding is a program of the Federal Ministry of Research, Technology and Space (BMFTR). SBB selects the scholarship recipients and supports them throughout their studies. Up to 1,500 advancement scholarships can be awarded annually. Currently, there are approximately 4,500 scholarship holders at over 300 universities. This makes the advancement scholarship one of the largest student scholarships in Germany.

Benefits

• For full-time students, the scholarship amounts to €992 per month plus €80 for book allowances (a total of €1,072).
• There is also a childcare allowance for children under 14 (€160 per child). The funding is provided as a lump sum and is therefore independent of income.
• Scholarship holders in a part-time study program receive funding of €3,045 per calendar year.

Requirements

• Funding is available for both full-time and part-time university studies.
• Even professionals who have been working for a longer period of time can apply for a scholarship to open up new perspectives for their professional development through studying.
• Applications are possible before beginning your studies. After receiving the scholarship, you have one year to begin your studies; funding begins after enrollment. Those already studying can apply in their first or second semester.
