The scholarship is to give academically gifted graduates, who have demonstrated their scholarly abilities during their studies, the opportunity to fully concentrate on their research as part of their doctoral studies.
Scholarship recipients receive 1,500 euros per month (basic stipend). Income from other activities (up to ten hours per week) does not affect the scholarship amount.
If the scholarship recipient has a child (or children) to care for, they will receive an additional monthly allowance of 400 euros.
Employment / Additional Income:
Scholarship recipients are allowed to gain a small-scale additional income (that is, jobs of up to 10 hours a week) beside their scholarship.This income does not affect the scholarship amount.
Eligible to apply for funding are students with an above average degree which qualifies for doctoral studies. The applicant's research endeavor is expected to make an important and original contribution in the respective field of study. The doctorate must be pursued at RWTH Aachen University.
The application process is conducted by the Division for Academic Affairs, Examination and University Law. A selection committee decides on the scholarship recipients. It consists of two representatives from the group of university professors, one postdoctoral member of staff, and one individual from the student body with a first university degree.
