Rosa Luxemburg Stiftung Scholarships 2026

The Scholarship Department of the Rosa-Luxemburg-Stiftung awards financial grants to highly-qualified undergraduate and doctoral students from Germany and abroad who evidence high levels of social and political engagement. Applications from undergraduate and doctoral students from scientific and technical disciplines are actively encouraged, as well as from graduates of technical colleges.

Benefits

You will receive

  1. Domestic Students - Monthly stipend €300 , abroad fees also funded.
  2. International Students - Monthly stipend €934 , additional supplements added.
  3. Doctoral Students - €1,450 per month, monthly research allowance.

Requirements

Domestic Students

You can receive funding from the second semester onwards

  • If you are studying a Bachelor's degree program and have half the standard period of study left before the start of funding. Only the Bachelor's degree counts, or, if you are aiming for it, both the Bachelor's and Master's degrees combined.
  • If you are studying a Diplom, Magister, or State Examination program at a university. You must have at least four semesters of the standard period of study left before the start of funding.
  • If you are studying at a university of applied sciences,
  • If you are studying in a dual study program and if you meet all other funding criteria. Please note that the training allowance will be credited towards the scholarship.
  • If you are starting the first semester of your Master's degree in the winter semester.

International Students

  • Enrollment (if not already established: at least one admission) at a state or state-recognized university in Germany
  • Proof of a completed bachelor's degree or completed undergraduate studies if you are enrolled in a Diplom, Magister, or Staatsexamen program
  • Excellent academic performance
  • Social or political engagement in the spirit of the Rosa Luxemburg Foundation
  • Very good German language skills (B2 level - proof of language acquisition)
  • You have not been in Germany for more than 15 months at the time of application. This applies unless you have already studied in Germany (bachelor's degree) or are preparing for university studies.
  • You must be in Germany to study.

Lux Like Scholarship

You can apply for the Lux like scholarship program if

  • You don't have an academic background.
  • You already have a (technical) high school diploma and would like to study.
  • You are about to graduate from a (technical) high school diploma and would like to study.
  • You are interested in or committed to socio-political and social issues.
  • You haven't yet studied.
