The Dumele research group at the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry of the University of Cologne conducts research at the interface of synthetic organic chemistry and functional materials. The focus lies on the targeted synthesis and structuring of π-conjugated, polyaromatic molecules into covalent organic frameworks, supramolecular architectures, and switchable spin and photoactive materials. The aim is to develop tailor-made molecular systems for applications in energy conversion, optoelectronics, and molecular functionality.
