Leuphana University of Lüneburg is seeking a a responsible, motivated and committed Research Assistant (PostDoc) for the Institute for English Studies (IES). 

The position is based at the chair of Prof. Dr. Robert Mitchell (School of Culture and Society, Institute of History and Literary Cultures) and will primarily focus on responsibilities within the Institute of English Studies (School of Education).

Requirements

  • Completed university degree in English Literature or Teacher Training (Master of Education or first state examination with English as a teaching subject) or in a related field
  • Completed, relevant doctorate in English Literature
  • Demonstratable knowledge of central approaches and debates of at least one of the following fields: Science and Literature, Literary Theory, AI and Literature, and/or Environmental Humanities
  • Teaching and/or research experience in an English-speaking country preferred
  • Experience as a university research assistant preferred
  • University teaching experience in English Literature, preferably with experience in teacher training in English
  • Experience in presenting research findings at international conferences
  • Excellent command of spoken and written English
  • German speaking and writing abilities desired
  • Ability to work both independently and within a team, with good time-management skills absolutely necessary;
  • Experience with externally funded projects (application writing, project collaboration) desirable
  • Academic publication track record
