PhD or PostDoc in the Field of Intelligent Energy Management at the University of Bayreuth 2026

To support the research and teaching activities of the newly established chair, the Chair of Intelligent Energy Management is seeking to fill a PhD or PostDoc position in the field of Intelligent Energy Management.

The Chair of Intelligent Energy Management focuses on the future of multi-energy systems and utilizes cutting-edge technologies such as digital twins, the Internet of Things (IoT), and artificial intelligence (AI) to optimize energy grids and promote the transition to renewable energies. The position offers the opportunity to contribute to a dynamic, research-oriented environment that supports the global energy transition. The position provides academic freedom to initiate, lead, and conduct new projects in the areas of digitalization and sustainability of energy systems.

Requirements

• Master's or doctoral degree in a relevant field (electrical engineering, mechatronics or computer science) with a focus on the operation of energy networks.
• Practical experience with experiments in an electrical laboratory.
• Solid mathematical knowledge (dynamic systems, signal analysis, control theory, optimization and numerical methods).
• Extensive knowledge in software development and programming.
• Research-oriented mindset with a proactive "get things done" approach.
• Excellent communication skills in German and English.
• Interest in project management and collaboration with industry partners.
