The Study Scholarship, available by application to LMU's International Office, is funded by the Federal State of Bavaria for international students and doctoral students at LMU who are registered at the time of application for regular full-time study programs.

Benefits
The funding consists of up to €650 per month for a period of up to ten months (subject to approval of the scholarship funds of Bavaria)
Requirements
Students / doctoral students (not including students on preparatory courses, exchange students, program students) enrolled at the time of application for regular full-time study programs who:
- have not completed their Abitur (higher education entrance qualification) and/ or a German academic degree (e.g., Bachelor degree, Master degree) in the Federal Republic of Germany or in a German school in a foreign country;
- are not entitled to statutory or other financial support (e.g., BAföG);
- can prove financial need. The basis for this is the current maximum BAföG rate of €992 per month (in justified individual cases, this amount may be exceeded);
- have received less than 30 months of funding or three one-year scholarships (regardless of organization providing funding);
- do not earn more than €695 per month during the duration of the scholarship;
- if you earn between €695 and €1.345 per month the scholarship will be adjusted accordingly;
- if you earn above €1.345 per month, no scholarship funding is possible;
- have good to very good grades;
- are studying at LMU with outstanding academic achievements in at least the third semester (Bachelor’s, state examination, teaching degree, doctorate or diploma) or from the first semester onwards (Master’s)
- have their residence in Germany;

- Detailed Curriculum Vitae (CV)
- Letter of motivation
- A fully-filled declaration of financial need
- Two recent references from two members of LMU teaching staff (major subject and minor subject if available) describing the applicant’s academic ability and academic achievements during one of the previous two semesters.
- Proof of all completed courses (e.g., transcript from LSF account and/or course certificates), copies of diploma, intermediate examination certificate and a copy of the Bachelor certificate (if already available).
- Matriculation certificate for the current semester
- Copies of passport and valid residence permit
- German bank account
- German tax identification number
- If you are married: Copy of your marriage certificate; Proof of financial need from spouse; Residence registration certificate (Meldebescheinigung) for spouse (if they are resident in the Federal Republic of Germany); if your spouse is an LMU student: spouse’s registration certificate for the current semester
- If you have children: birth certificate(s); Residence registration certificate (Meldebescheinigung) for children (if they are resident in the Federal Republic of Germany).
