We are a multidisciplinary research group investigating rare, monogenic childhood interstitial lung diseases (chILD). The foundation of our work is the European-wide chILD-EU registry, where we follow more than 1000 patients with severe, mostly unexplained lung disease. Mostly starting with genomic studies, we are aiming to link patient genotype to the observed clinical phenotype via functional studies. To this end, we focus on induced pluripotent stem cell (iPSC) models and primary patient cells, but no animal studies. We are offering a 2-year postdoc contract to investigate the role of certain genetic alterations in the pulmonary vasculature using iPSC-derived blood vessel organoids.
