Benefits
Funding is awarded only for specific, clearly defined research projects, in particular for:
- Grants for research projects, e.g. for equipment, small devices, assistants, travel expenses and other costs;
- To a lesser extent, this also includes research trips and research stays, and the presentation of research results at conferences;
- However, it is not intended to cover the applicant's living expenses and other personnel costs.
- Travel expenses for doctoral students can only be applied for in very justified cases, and if a subsidy from TUM-GS is not possible.
- The available funds will be distributed among several research projects to ensure broad coverage.
- Conference attendance can be funded up to €1,500, and research projects up to €5,000. In justified exceptional cases, the Board of Trustees may approve higher amounts for outstanding applications.

- Students who have not yet started their doctoral studies are also ineligible for funding.
- The Leonhard Lorenz Foundation particularly encourages applications from junior research group leaders.
