The Jakob Mann Foundation supports international students and doctoral candidates at the University of Oldenburg with graduation scholarships and a one-year full scholarship for particularly talented students. In order to be funded by the Jakob Mann Foundation, scholarship holders must be registered in Oldenburg or the neighbouring regions during the funding period. No funding is available for stays abroad. Absences must be approved in advance by the Jakob Mann Foundation.

- A scholarship is awarded for a maximum of 12 months with monthly scholarship instalments of up to €1,000.
Requirements
- International students and doctoral candidates enrolled at the University of Oldenburg (specifically, Bildungsausländer*innen, international students who gained their matriculation qualification outside of Germany) with outstanding academic or research achievements or other evidence of giftedness. Language course participants, exchange students, part-time students and international students who also have German citizenship are not eligible for funding.
- Applicants must be studying at least in their third semester at the University of Oldenburg.
- In order to be funded by the Jakob Mann Foundation, scholarship holders must be registered in Oldenburg or the neighbouring regions during the funding period. No funding is available for stays abroad. Absences must be approved in advance by the Jakob Mann Foundation.
- Financial need
- Relevance for the region (e .g. due to the intention to do a doctorate in Oldenburg, career prospects, etc.)
- Desirable: Active involvement in society and/or university politics
- Residence permit valid for the purpose of studying for a degree or completing a doctorate. This usually means a permit granted pursuant to Section 16 Residence Act (AufenthG) for “residence for educational purposes”.
- Applicants may not receive BAföG at the same time.
Selection Process
- Step 1: Complete the online application form and send it off.
- Step 2: Upload your application documents to the university’s cloud storage system
- Step 3: Reference by email from a lecturer: In addition to the above-mentioned documents, we require a reference letter from the supervisor of your thesis or doctorate or a lecturer from your degree programme. The report must be sent by email to [email protected] by the author.
