The "Gilman-DAAD Germany Scholarships" are funded by the Transatlantic Programme of the Federal Republic of Germany with funds from the European Recovery Programme (ERP) of the Federal Ministry of Economics and Climate Protection (BMWK). As part of a cooperation with the U.S. Department of State and the Insitute of International Education (IIE) within the „Benjamin A Gilman International Scholarship Program“ DAAD provides up to 40 additional „Gilman-DAAD Scholarships“ per year for U.S. undergraduate students to study and/or intern in Germany. Only US Pell Grant recipients are eligible to participate (Pell Grants are federal scholarships for low-income students). The program supports a wider effort to increase and diversify international student mobility among German and U.S. higher education institutions.
