As one of the first universities the TU Bergakademie Freiberg has been participating in the "Deutschlandstipendium" (Germany Scholarship Programme), a national scholarship initiative of the Federal Ministry of Education and Research, since its launch in April 2011. The Germany Scholarship supports talented students whose careers promise outstanding achievements in their studies and careers. Over 950 scholarships have already been awarded since the Deutschlandstipendium was launched in April 2011.
The TU Bergakademie Freiberg is one of the pilot universities participating in the "National Scholarship Programme" initiative of the Federal Ministry of Education and Research. Benefits
- The scholarship amount is a total of €300 per month. By way of derogation, a higher scholarship may be awarded in accordance with Section 5, Paragraph 1, Sentence 2 of the StipG if the share of privately acquired funds for a single scholarship exceeds €150.
- The scholarship may be awarded up to and including the last semester of the standard period of study for the degree program. Upon justified request, funding may be extended beyond the standard period of study in accordance with Section 7, Paragraph 1 of the StipG.
- The total funding period is specified in the approval notice. The scholarship is generally awarded for a period of two semesters. It is possible to reapply after a scholarship period.
- For stays abroad as part of the study program, the scholarship will continue to be paid at the same amount.
- The provisions of the Scholarship Act (StipG) apply to the granting of leave, termination, and revocation of the scholarship.
Requirements
- students in bachelor's and master's degree programmes as well as “Diplom” degree programmes in their first degree who are enrolled at TU Bergakademie Freiberg and
- study applicants for a first degree, who wish to enrol in the first semester at TU Bergakademie Freiberg and fulfil the admission requirements for the degree programme.
First degree means that you have not already achieved a Master's degree or equivalent.
The scholarships are awarded in addition to performance at school or during studies, also, special achievements, professional experience, social commitment, as well as personal circumstances resulting, for example, from family background or a migration background, are taken into account.
Support is excluded if the student receives material support based on talent and performance in accordance with Sections 1 (3) or 4 (1) sentence 1 of the Act on the Creation of a National Scholarship Programme (StipG) of 21 July 2010, as amended, unless it falls below a monthly average of 30 euros.
Interview Dates and Process
In addition to the Vice-Rector, the selection committee shall consist of one university professor from each faculty, the Equal Opportunities Officer, and three student senators, whose representatives shall be appointed by the Student Council. The university professor from each faculty and one deputy for each faculty shall be appointed by the respective dean.
- The Selection Committee proposes a list of students or applicants to the Rectorate who are to be awarded a scholarship.
- Based on the Selection Committee's proposal, the Rectorate decides on the award of the scholarship.
- Notification of the scholarship award is issued by official notice. The approval notice specifies the type and timing of the evidence of performance that the scholarship holder must provide in order for the scholarship to continue to be awarded in accordance with Section 9, Paragraph 2.
- It will be publicly announced when the awarding of the scholarships has been completed and the scholarship holders have been informed.
