The BIH doctoral scholarships for doctoral candidates in human and dental medicine are aimed at research-enthusiastic enrolled human and dental medicine students.
The doctoral scholarships of the Berlin Institute of Health for doctoral candidates in human and dental medicine who are pursuing doctoral degrees alongside their studies are advertised and awarded competitively once a year for doctoral projects leading to a Dr. med., MD/PhD or Dr. med. dent. degree that are in line with the guiding principles of the BIH (project start from April 1st of the following year).
1200 EUR per month for a maximum of 12 months
Selected doctoral candidates pursuing a Dr. med., MD/PhD, or Dr. med. dent. degree while studying are eligible for funding. Their supervisors must be employed at Charité – Universitätsmedizin Berlin or the Max Delbrück Center for Molecular Medicine in the Helmholtz Association (MDC).
Doctoral candidates with outstanding doctoral projects begun alongside their studies can also receive a BIH-MD doctoral scholarship as enrolled doctoral students even after completing their third state examination in medicine or dentistry.
Scholarships are not awarded to doctoral candidates who are simultaneously receiving doctoral funding from other sources. Scholarships are not granted retroactively. Switching from the standard doctoral track to the advanced doctoral track at Charité during the funding period is permitted.
