2025 BMW PhD Student AI-based Condition Monitoring in Large-Scale Production

As part of your doctorate, you will work on pioneering issues surrounding the digitalization and quality optimization of the production of drive components for e-mobility. You will develop innovative methods for condition monitoring of manufacturing processes using modern AI technologies, thus making a significant contribution to ensuring the highest quality standards. Your research results will be continuously coordinated with experts in large-scale production and will find direct application in industrial practice.

Requirements

• Successfully completed studies in computer science, automation technology, data science, mathematics, mechanical engineering or a comparable course of study.
• Solid programming skills in Python, MATLAB or R.
• Experience with machine learning, computer vision, multivariate problems and anomaly detection is an advantage.
• Enjoyment of scientific work and complex problems.
• Fluent written and spoken German skills are a must.
