The BMW Group, offer you an exciting and varied thesis in the field of high-voltage battery safety. Our team at the BMW Group is dedicated to the safety and analysis of lithium-ion cells. As part of your thesis, you will gain insights into innovative experimental setups and support us in characterizing particle-gas mixtures during thermal runaway events.
What awaits you?
- You will support literature research and evaluation of published methods for the characterization of particle-gas mixtures.
- You will also help investigate the amount of heat released during a thermal runaway.
- In addition, you will contribute to the development and optimization of an experimental setup for characterizing the escaping particle-gas mixture.
- You will also support the organization and implementation of experiments with different cell chemistries and cell formats.
- You will participate in the evaluation and preparation of the test results.

Requirements
- Studies in electrical engineering, mechatronics, mechanical engineering or a related field.
- Previous knowledge in the area of ??thermal runaway of lithium-ion cells is desirable.
- Knowledge of Catia V5 desirable.
- Strong logical analytical skills and systematic approach.
- Initiative, willingness to perform and high motivation.
- Willingness to travel within Germany.
- Good knowledge of German and English.
