BAYHOST/BTHA: Bavaria’s Annual Scholarship Programme 2027

The Bavarian-Czech University Agency (Bayerisch-Tschechische Hochschulagentur) awards annual scholarships, funded by the State of Bavaria, to graduates from the Czech Republic. The scholarship is intended to finance doctoral, postgraduate or further postgraduate studies at a Bavarian higher education institution. It is initially awarded for one year and may be extended, upon application, a maximum of twice (to a total of three years).

The aim of the annual scholarship programme is to promote academic cooperation and student exchange between Bavaria and the Czech Republic.

Funding is available for:

• a full postgraduate programme or PhD at a Bavarian state higher education institution, a state-recognised higher education institution run by a religious body, or a college of art or music
• a one-year research stay as part of a PhD programme in the home country (in this case, the duration of the scholarship is generally limited to one year)

Graduates from the Czech Republic with academic achievements well above average

• Academic Requirements

Postgraduate programmes (e.g. Master’s programmes, but not Bachelor’s programmes) or PhD programmes in all subjects are eligible for funding. Those interested who are already undertaking a PhD in their home country may apply for a one-year research placement at a Bavarian higher education institution.
