Launched in 2017, the Allianz Climate Risk Award celebrates scientists at the start of their career whose work sheds light on the nexus between climate change and extreme weather events.
The Allianz Climate Risk Award is a global award open to PhD candidates and post-doctoral researchers whose research focuses on:
Understanding and mitigating the risk of extreme weather events that are intensified by climate change;
Fostering resilience by applying technological solutions.
10 applicants are shortlisted by a jury of experts from industry and academia and their work is published in a Compendium on Allianz Re’s website.
By submitting your application, you agree to attend the Allianz Climate Risk Award event in Munich, Germany, if you are selected as a finalist and present your research project in person. Allianz Re is covering the travel costs. You also agree to participate in internal and external communication with regards to the Allianz Climate Risk Award (e.g., interview about your research project). Core of your application should be a brief (max. 800 words) non-technical essay that outlines your research idea and highlights central findings. Please refer to the Compendium 2024 to find some examples.
