The Chair of Production Systems (LPS) at the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, headed by Prof. Dr.-Ing. Bernd Kuhlenkötter, focuses on fundamental and industry-oriented applied research in production automation, industrial robotics, digitalization in production, and production management. To this end, the LPS operates a state-of-the-art learning and research factory (LFF) where theoretical concepts developed in projects are put into practice and evaluated. Furthermore, interdisciplinary research projects are conducted in close collaboration with industry partners to develop innovative automation technology solutions.

The position includes independent engagement with research content in the field of robotics, the development and testing of robotic systems, the publication and presentation of results, participation in third-party funded projects, and collaborations with industry and research partners.

Your tasks:

  • Conception and further development of robot-based applications for industrial and service-oriented fields of application
  • Technical evaluation and optimization of existing robotics solutions with regard to performance, robustness and degree of automation.
  • Publication of research results in international journals and conferences, as well as writing scientific articles in German and English.
  • Assistance with the acquisition and processing of third-party funded projects, including project management and reporting.
  • Collaboration with industry partners and research institutions, transfer of results into practical applications

Requirements

  • Completed university degree in mechanical engineering, mechatronics, electrical engineering, computer science or a related field, ideally with a focus on robotics
  • Solid knowledge in robotics, control engineering, kinematics/dynamics or autonomous systems, as well as practical experience in experimental laboratory work.
  • Proficient use of relevant software and development tools (e.g., MATLAB/Simulink, ROS, C++/Python, CAD)
  • Strong skills in scientific work, publication activity, or initial relevant publication experience are advantageous.
  • High motivation, teamwork and communication skills
  • Excellent German and English skills, both spoken and written (at least CEFR level B2)
