Erasmus Mundus Mipdal Scholarship 2026

The MIPDaL programme offers a unique opportunity for all potential students to take part in the program with scholarships funded by the European Commission. Up to 60 scholarships can be awarded throughout the program period of 5 years, allowing for a maximum of 12 students to be funded per year.

Benefits

  • Scholarship holders do not pay tuition fees to the consortium, nor additional fees to the UK partner universities.
  • Aditionally, they receive funding to cover their monthly expenses for accomodation, travelling, etc.

Requirements

ADMISSION CRITERIA of all MIPDaL consortium partners are the following:

  • The two countries of study are not identical to the student’s country of residence at the time of enrolment.
  • Successful applicants have obtained the job qualifying degree of at least 240 ECTS (four years) in law, according to the regulations of the country where they have obtained their degree(s) and which is recognized in all countries of the participating Partners: Estonia, France, Germany, Spain and the United Kingdom (e.g. a three-year bachelor’s programme + a first master’s degree, or a four-year bachelor’s programme).
  • If at the time of application, proof of the first university degree is not yet available due to candidates currently studying the said degree, the applicant will also be included in the assessment procedure if 80% of the credit points attainable through the university degree are already proven by means of completed module examinations or the final thesis and, if applicable, the colloquium by means of certification from the university of origin. The requirement of submitting all other proofs mentioned with the application remain unaffected by this. A conditional offer will be made to meet the requirements by a specified date.
  • Successful applicants count to the top-level students of their class. They should hold a Law degree, or a degree with substantial Law content, that the admitting partner institutions deem equivalent to a UK Bachelor degree with Upper Second Class honours. To check whether your degree fulfills this requirement, please use the following link and scroll down until you can select the country where you received your degree under “Entry requirements”: https://www.qmul.ac.uk/postgraduate/taught/coursefinder/courses/laws-llm/.
  • Successful applicants show their motivation for the subjects related to MIPDaL focuses.
  • Students must provide evidence that they have met the following language proficiency:
  • For degrees delivered in the English language, proficiency is required at C1 level (in execeptional cases B2+) according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages.
  • For degrees delivered also in the French (students choosing a study track including studies at UNISTRA/CEIPI) or Spanish (students choosing a study track including studies at UC3M) language, proficiency is required at C1 level (French) and B2 level (Spanish).

Selection Process

  • Scholarship holders are chosen according to their merits, i.e. the best applicants will be awarded the grant. In case of equal eligibility, applicants from all marginalised groups will be selected. The Selection Committee will also prepare a list of reserved candidates for scholarships so that in case an applicant is not able to participate in the programme, a reserved candidate can be nominated immediately.

LANGUAGE CERTIFICATES

All applicants must prove their language skills with official certificates. (see below for exceptions)

  • English (C1) - Mandatory for all students
  • French (C1) - Mandatory for those who want to study at CEIPI (Strasbourg)
  • Spanish (C1) - Mandatory for those who wish to study at UC3M (Madrid)
