The advertised Ph.D. position belong to the project C01 “Interindividual variation at the Syntax-Pragmatics Interface” (https://www.ling.uni-konstanz.de/sfb1760/research-projects/project-group-c/project-c01-interindividual-variation-at-the-syntax-pragmatics-interface/). This project investigates interindividal variation in psycho/neurolinguistic experiments and their link to cognitive differences between participants. In a series of lab- and web-based studies, we will monitor participants’ linguistic performance for a wide range of phenomena (including (i) linguistic illusions, (ii) processing at the interfaces, and (iii) social and rule-based pragmatics – the candidate will chose (i) or (iii) as their thesis topic), and correlate it with different psychological measures.
Your Responsibilities
- Working towards a PhD within the SFB context
- Managing a large participant pool, including reliable communication with participants in German
- Setting up and conducting web-based behavioral and in-house EEG experiments
- Data preprocessing and analysis
- Contributing to result dissemination via conference presentations and co-publications

Requirements
- Excellent M.A. or equivalent in linguistics, with background and interests that enable you to take on (i) or (iii) as your Ph.D. topic
- Very good English and German skills
- Excellent skills in communication and organization
- Experience with psycholinguistic methods and data analysis (R)
- Based in Konstanz to run and oversee EEG data acquisition
