The Institute for Cartography and Geoinformatics (ikg) is seeking a Research Associate (PhD or PostDoc position) in the field of automatic geodata processing.

You will work on solutions for key societal challenges such as autonomous driving, smart cities, sustainable energy, and geohazards. You will drive methodological development at the intersection of algorithmic geometry, optimization, and machine learning – we offer you the freedom to choose your own focus in one of these future-oriented fields. In teaching, you will be involved in courses on geometric data modeling and data analysis within the German-language Bachelor's program.

We offer an attractive position in an interdisciplinary team and in a highly topical research field. Further qualification in the form of a doctorate or, for postdocs, a habilitation is expressly encouraged.

Requirements

We are looking for individuals who want to combine theory and practice. Depending on your career level, you will meet the following requirements:

  • As a postdoc: You have a relevant, completed doctorate in the field of spatial data processing.
  • As a doctoral candidate: You have completed a scientific university degree (Master's/Diploma) in the fields of geodesy, geoinformatics or computer science.

Furthermore, they are distinguished by:

  • Excellent academic performance is desirable.
  • Self-initiative: The ability and passion for independent, excellent scientific work
  • Team spirit: Enjoyment of working together in an interdisciplinary, dynamic team
  • Language skills: Since you will be actively involved in shaping the German-language teaching (Bachelor's degree) in the field of geometric data modeling and analysis, very good German skills are required; for research, fluency in English is important.
