The focus of the PhD project is the study of strange resonance production and decay in hadronic reactions. This involves the reconstruction and analysis of exclusive final states, as well as the extraction of differential cross sections. A key objective is to contribute to the search for missing baryon resonances predicted by QCD-inspired models. The experimental results will be com- pared with predictions from partial wave analyses and various theoretical frameworks to deepen our understanding of hadron structure.
Your tasks:
- The successful candidate will be involved in all phases of the experiment, including preparation and simulation studies for the pion beamtime, active participation in beamtime and shift work during data taking at the HADES experiment at SIS18, and subsequent data analysis.
- Responsibilities will also include data quality assurance, detector calibration and alignment, and the development of data analysis workflows using the ROOT framework.
- The candidate will present research findings at collaboration meetings and scientific conferences and will prepare a PhD thesis based on the project outcomes.
