The project focuses on the coupling of photosynthetic proteins with redox enzymes for light-driven hydrogen production and CO2 reduction, combining principles of photochemistry, protein engineering, and bioelectrocatalysis. The goal is to develop hybrid bioelectrochemical platforms for efficient and scalable applications as part of a green energy future.
Tasks:
Your core scientific tasks:
- Planning, preparation and implementation of laboratory activities
- Protein engineering and biochemical and biophysical characterization of protein variants
- Documentation, analysis and interpretation of data
- Preparation of data and writing of scientific publications
- Cooperation in an interdisciplinary team
Your academic involvement:
- Participation in academic teaching (supervision of courses, preparation of exams, etc.)
- Supervision of students in research internships
- Participation in organizational activities within the professorship
• The doctoral procedure is carried out at the Graduate Center GCS of the Technical University of Munich

Requirements
- You have a Master's degree (or equivalent) in biotechnology, biochemistry, molecular biology or a related subject
- You have a strong interest in enzymatic catalysis, protein engineering and electro- and photochemistry
- You have practical experience in the following areas: microbiology, molecular biology, protein biochemistry, enzyme assays, spectroscopy, electrochemistry
- You are motivated to work in an interdisciplinary and international environment
- You enjoy working independently
- You have good written and spoken English skills
